Liffey Sound 96.4 FM present the ‘Highdrop’ Virtual Festival.
Join Liffey Sound for an unforgettable evening of entertainment and fundraising on Friday August 27th 2021.
We all know the story, since the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic the Irish live entertainment industry has been stopped dead in its tracks. All over the country musicians, organisers, and techs have been left without the means to earn a living, and what’s more they have been left in the dark about a potential reopening. Amidst this sea of uncertainty, the Irish creative community has been doing what they do best to try and find a solution – coming together with enthusiasm, inventiveness, and unfaltering spirit.
Leading the charge in 2020 was Liffey Sound and their virtual festival. A fund raising event for the local radio station had been a much anticipated annual event for many years, and a vital form of income used to keep Liffey Sound on the air. Thinking outside the box, they decided to stage a special streaming event which invited artists from all over the country to submit their work for inclusion in a full evenings entertainment. Simultaneously raising funds for the non profit radio station, and providing some much needed relief to a country feeling the effects of a 6 month lockdown, the festival was a great success. It showcased some amazing up and coming talent, as well as featuring stars like Brian Kennedy and Mal Tougy of the Riptide movement.
In light of last years success, Liffey Sound will be running the show again this year under the name ‘Highdrop’ Virtual Festival. Named after the type of weir located in Lucan village, the festival will be jam packed with a diverse lineup of performers ranging from DJs and rappers, to choirs and spoken word performers. The first set of acts for Highdrop will be announced this Friday (20th August), just 1 week before the event will take place.
You can tune in live from 6pm on August 27th via either Facbook or Instagram for an amazing evening of entertainment that all taking place for a great cause. If you would like to contribute, Liffey Sound are accepting donations through their GoFundMe page. Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated. Liffey Sound will also be hosting a raffle in September where anyone who donates €10+ will be in with a chance of winning (prizes to be announced soon).
